Quite frankly, EZ Mount foam is the BEST system for using your un-mounted stamps. I have and I know quite a few people who have taken all/ most of their wood mounted rubber stamps and have re-mounted them onto EZ Mount foam. It’s a very easy process.
If you are working with an un-mounted stamp here’s what to do:
1. Cut your stamp to the edge of the
design (this will provide a clean stamped image
and reduce the amount of foam you need)
2. Lay your foam on a flat surface with the
blue writing up. lay
your stamp on top of the foam, with the stamp
image facing UP. (You
can position as many stamps and you would like
right now) If you do position your stamps,
it reduces the waste of foam.
3. With a ball point pen or felt tip pen, trace
around the edges of the stamp(s).
4. Cut around the traced lines.
5. Peel off the blue writing
side of the foam liner and apply the stamp to
the foam.
6. Peel off the white liner
and place on an acrylic block and stamp your
heart out!
If you are working with a mounted stamp:
1. Peel the rubber off of the wood block.
2. If the cushion sticks to the rubber simply do
one of the following:
a) Use goo-gone or a like substance to remove the cushion
b) Microwave it for 10-20 seconds and then peel it off
c) Soak the stamp and cushion in water and dish soap for a
few hours (It should peel right off)
3. Once you have only rubber left, follow the
6 steps above to mount
your new un-mounted stamps.
**(Tip 1: If some of the sticky from the old cushion stays on the BACK of the stamp, it’s ok. As long as there are no big bumps in the adhesive that will damage the stamped image quality)
**(Tip 2: If you are not in a hurry to re-mount your stamps and you have a lot of wood mounted stamps like I did, you can fill a bucket (car wash bucket) with hot water and about a TBS of liquid dish soap and dump your stamps in there about 20-30 at a time depending on size. Let them soak for a week or so… The wood will warp, stamps will slide right off. Simply rinse with hot water to remove any soap residue and complete the 1st 6 steps in this post)
