Blog Party
By: Vicki
We’re hosting our first ever blog
party! We’ll be traveling around the world in 31 days.
Board the ship today for a fantastic sail around the
world. Join the stamping “jet setters” for a month of
fun and games. Beginning August 1, we will be packing
and heading to the South Pacific for a week of rest and
relaxation in the sun and sandy beaches of Polynesia.
From there, we will sail off to the ornate, exotic
Orient where we’ll take a week long trip on the Orient
Express. Our next port of call will be Europe where we
will dine like true queens and shop like celebrities for
an entire week! We’ll board the ship and travel to the
Caribbean and sail like rich pirates, take in the ocean
scenes and find some serious “loot”.
Don’t miss this party! We’ve got some
fabulous sponsors:
DJ Inkers
SEI
Cosmo Cricket
Around The Block
Serendipity Kits
Scrap Treasures
Art Girlz Scrappin Attic

Thank you to all of our sponsors.
Kit Corner
By: Bev
Augusts’ kit sold out so fast! It
features the new black and white collection from
Doodlebug Designs & a great, versatile stamp set from
Queen Kat Designs. We have doubled, yes! doubled the
amount of card bases and envelopes that we add to our
kits. You’ll now get 8 instead of 4.
We only have 5 of the September 2007 kits
left! It’s going to feature the NEW “Infuse” collection
from Basic Grey & a really awesome stamp set from Queen
Kat Designs! The paper just came in & I must say, it’s
wonderful!! If you were lucky enough to get a June ’07
kit, you’ll be even luckier to get the September kit!
There are 9 different patterned papers alone! And it
comes with a distressing tool! The full kit picture will
debut mid August. But, don’t let your chance to snatch
one up pass you now. We anticipate the remaining 5 kits
will sell quickly and before the picture comes out.

Here are some highlights of the new site

certificates online upon check out

QKD Review

You say
it....we STAMP it! Okay...corny I know....but a person
can NEVER have enough 'sayings' or 'greetings' stamps!
Seriously, alpha stamps are great but more work is
involved in those than you often want to do! Those
simple greetings stamps to quickly finish up a card are
sooo worth every penny and then some. Have you checked
out QK's Greeting Stamps??? She has 3 great sets that
say it all! And the styles will fit the mood! Everything
from elegant script fonts to the fun and sassy 'girly'
style. So...what are you waiting for, you know YOUR
GREAT and deserve them, they will make you SMILE and
have a HAPPY DAY and in the end you will THANK yourself
for having them all!

Eugene F. Ware wrote, "All glory comes from daring to
begin."
Here it is August, the beginning of a new month and the
beginning of a new store, a new blog party, and new
stamps at Queen Kat Designs. What a wonderful way to
celebrate a new month and new beginnings!! Yet,
sometimes just taking that first step can be hard. At my
house, August means the beginning of new school year.
For my children it is the beginning of first grade, an
adventure that we are looking forward to and dreading
all at the same time. It is so scary to think of them in
first grade because when I look at them I still remember
them as tiny infants. Then when I look at them again, I
realize how far they have come and how much they have
accomplished in such a short period. Then I realize that
Ware was right – we just have to take that first step
(whether it is school, changes in our lives or
businesses, or whatever is thrown at us) and see where
it leads.

Sizzix Die-Cut Machines
Provo-Craft/Ellison
By: Pooka
I have the original model, the Personal Die-Cutter,
though most of the review applies to all three systems:
The Personal, the Sidekick, and the BigKick. However,
for anyone that will really be putting their machine to
a lot of use, I recommend either the Personal or the
BigKick -- the Sidekick is a little more awkward to use,
wobbles a bit, and won't take the larger dies.
First off, if you have a die-cut machine, and a Xyron,
you are next to invincible when it comes to card-making
and scrapbooking. No more buying someone else's die-cuts
at 3-5 dollars a pop. The only money is in paper (cheap)
and dies, which are not so cheap but usable over and
over. Embossing dies are also available, greatly
expanding your range of embellishments for pages.
It only takes a tiny bit of paper folding to go from a
single die-cut to amazing borders and frames. An
accordion fold of light-weight paper (this does not work
with heavier cardstock), slightly smaller than your die,
will create a connected border of the image. A snowflake
fold (remember making paper snowflakes? Same fold), also
slightly smaller than your die, will create wonderful
frames of repeating images.

Tips &
Techniques page of the web site!
Have a great month everyone! It’s back to school time
and the weather should be calming down. We’ll see you
next month!
